Sleep is vital for us all to go to work, be with our families and lead healthy lives.
Many doctors have studied and advocated the benefits of a full nights rest, typically 7 or 8 hours a night, but recent research is showing that getting adequate sleep
can also effect weight and weight loss.
In several studies doctors have found that in sleep Leptin, the chemical that tells your brain you are full, drops significantly with little sleep or with un-restful sleep. This indicates that those who sleep more and get a restful night of shut eye feel more satisfied the next day and are less likely to over eat or turn to fatty food to defeat their feelings of hunger.
Another interesting point of the study was that there appeared to be a clear correlation between weight and how much sleep study participants received; the heaviest participants got the least amount of sleep.
Some value slim tips to a great sleep which could help in your weight loss goals are turning off all lights and creating a dark environment to sleep in, do not leave the television on while trying to fall asleep as the noise and light can later disrupt sleep and prevent the necessary REM cycles of restful sleep, and try to maintain a schedule of when you sleep and awake to help regulate your sleep patterns.
